Investing in Education, Research & Ideas

Sydney, 24 February 2012

How do we make sure that the ideas that matter are supported and adequately funded?
A seminar with David Robinson.

Catalyst Australia and the National Tertiary Education Union thank everyone who participated in the policy seminar with David on the 24th February 2012.

Some great points were made by David and participants, including:

"Investing in education, research and ideas: It's not a question of whether we can afford it, but how do we pay for it..."

"When you replace Government investment with private investment... what gets researched is what they can sell."

"Recent government investments in universities have been narrow and performance-based... this really constrains universities from doing their: research in the public interest."
