Dr Amanda Wise, Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Research on Social Inclusion - Macquarie University

Amanda is an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in sociology and cultural studies. Her main areas of expertise include transnational communities, labour migration, and Australian migration and multicultural studies. Her current interests are particularly focused on diversity and migrant labour in Australian workplaces, as well as experiences of settlement among refugee communities.

She is currently researching (with Dr Velayutham) the experiences of workers from India currently in Australia on 457 Temporary Visas. Industries of focus include hospitality, IT, construction and manufacturing.

Amanda is author of Exile and Return Among the East Timorese, published by University of Pennsylvania Press in 2006.
