We are delighted to publish the election results for the Compass Management Committee and Compass Youth Organising Committee for 2010/2011. Firstly we would like to thanks all of the candidates that stood in the elections and a big thank you to all of the members who used their democratic right and voted.

I am delighted that Compass are campaigning to end legal loan sharking. Moneylenders and loan sharks are, of course, not a new phenomenon, but in this most recent and severe of recessions they have become more prevalent, more pernicious and more profitable. Our bust has been the Loan Shark's boom.

The debate about the Spirit Level - the book that makes the case that more equal societies are healthier, happier and safer - shows that there is still just about an appetite for "big ideas" in the mainstream media. You'd have been forgiven, though, for thinking that since the election, political debate had simply been reduced to an argument about how the deficit will be managed, and where the cuts will fall.

Thousands of you have signed the petition, over 1000 of you emailed the Prime Minister and resolutions to cap the cost of credit are now being tabled at the Labour and Liberal Democrat conferences.
